A New Milestone in Craftsmanship
At Akerboom Yacht Equipment, we celebrate a recent achievement of our team: the successful renovation of the gangway for the M.Y. Flag. This gangway, which was first delivered 24 years ago, has been precisely removed from the M.Y. Flag in Antibes, France, and transported to our service facility in Barcelona.
Before the yacht arrived in France, our team conducted a quick pre-inspection at our West Palm Beach (USA) service location. This preliminary check allowed us to closely examine the specific requirements for the overhaul and optimize the work preparation. Our strategic service locations enable us to provide this kind of flexibility and responsive service wherever our clients need us.
As the OEM, Akerboom Yacht Services has all the original technical drawings readily available, allowing us to offer a complete overhaul kit with all the original parts needed to standardize the refurbishment process, saving time and costs and improving the quality of the overhaul.
Once in Barcelona, our dedicated team brought their expertise, precision, and ingenuity to restore this 24-year-old gangway, ensuring it functions as perfectly as it did when newly delivered in 2000. With the assistance of a local subcontractor, the gangway was preserved with a new coat of advanced marine-grade paint. This paint, the result of years of innovation and expertise, provides exceptional durability and protection against the harsh marine environment, ensuring the paint job will endure for many years without the need for reapplication. At Akerboom, we take pride in incorporating our latest innovations into older models to ensure they remain top-notch. The gangway now not only looks brand new but also meets the highest standards of safety and functionality.
